Another great limited edition smoke from Arturo Fuente… the Opus X Destino al Siglo

In the world of premium cigars the Opus X is pretty high up there (click here to see my previous Opus X post). Anyone that’s paid the price to buy one of these high end smokes was probably very satisfied. The newest special release cigar was the Destino al Siglo 2012… it was made in honor of the 100th anniverary of the Arturo Fuente Cigar Company. I was grateful that my father was generous enough to share one of the 4 cigars that come in this limited edition package.opus x siglo

The cigars that are included are as follows: 1 Fuente Fuente OpusX, BBMF – 2 Fuente Furente OpusX, Tauros the Bull – 1 Don Carlos Edicion de Aniversario, Double Robusto. We both smoked the “Tauros the bull”. As soon as I lit the cigar I could sense the very familiar taste of previous Opus X cigars I’ve smoked. There are always some spice and signs of strength in the Opus X blends, but they are also very well balanced. The best part is the easy draw that comes from being so well made. opus x

This smoke burned extremely well. It was super slow with a solid ash all the way down to the nub. I am a fan of the Opus X, even despite the usually high price tag. This limited edition smoke was definitely worth the price and would be a great gift for any true cigar aficionado.

In conclusion…JK highly recommends  If your are willing to pay the price you will always get a great strong smoke with an Opus X. (Most of the normal versions start at around $15..and up,up,up). This special edition set retails around $165.

The Legendary Opus X

Even if you are new to the cigar world.. you have probably heard of the Opus X brand by Arturo Fuente. They were one of the first super premium cigars that I was introduced to by my cigar buddies.Opus XThe cigar maker, Fuente, makes several other lines of cigars but this one has a legendary mystique.  They limit the quantity of boxes purchased by each retailer. Making them harder to find and driving up the price tag. I’m lucky enough to know a few local shops where they sell them at a reasonable price. Ol’ Times cigars in Casselberry always seems to have some in stock and are priced as competitive as anywhere. The Smoke that I enjoyed this weekend was a limited edition “Lost City” Opus X.Lost City Opus XThis cigar was a gift from a very good friend last year. I’ve had it sitting in my humidor waiting for the right opportunity to break it out. It just happens that the same friend was in town this weekend for a UCF football game. The weather was perfect and we had several hours to tailgate… What a perfect time to enjoy this amazing smoke. I’ve had a lot of different Opus over the years, but this one was extremely good. It was beautiful to look at and had a perfect draw. The initial taste was smooth but strong. The cigar burned slow and even, while the flavors continued to develop. I wish it only lasted longer. Which is always a great sign!Lost City Opus X

In conclusion… JK definitely recommends. It comes with a stiff price but  it’s worth it for the serious smoker or a special event.
