The Cigar Lounge in Oviedo…not your ordinary cigar shop!

There are a lot of new cigar shops popping up all over the central florida area but very few bring something different to the table. This place delivers a true “lounge” atmosphere. the cigar lounge oviedo

The first thing you notice when you walk into the Cigar Lounge is the great variety of places to sit and relax. Most shops only have a small section to enjoy a smoke. The CL has several comfortable leather chairs and couches..as well as tables and a large bar. Their Bar offer several brands of beer and wine to compliment your smoke. There are also large flatscreens on every wall. They have made sure you can keep an eye on the game or whatever is on from any seat in the house. the cigar lounge oviedo

The humidor is located along the left side of the store and offers a very good selection of smokes. They carry most of my favorites…Padron, My Father, Ashton, La Aroma de Cuba… and many others. You’ll have no problem finding a smoke that fits your taste. I think the main thing that distinguishes them from other spots is that they cater to the night crowd. While most shops close early.. the CL is open until 10pm (and sometimes later). They are also located in a shopping complex that has some great food at Circosta’s (Italian) and Beef of Brady’s(wings, burgers, etc.). You can grab a quick bite then head over to the Lounge.the cigar lounge oviedo

Conclusion… JK recommends that everyone stop by the Cigar Lounge next time you’re in Oviedo. Make sure to check my post here about their upcoming My Father Event.

New smoke… La Aroma De Cuba “Mi Amor Reserva”

Just had a chance to try the new La Aroma de Cuba “Mi Amor Reserva”. I actually saw these at two shops recently. I bought two at the first shop, but didn’t get a chance to smoke one. When I saw them today at a different retailer I couldn’t resist.

I have been a fan of La Aroma de Cuba since they released the “Edicion Especial” a few years ago. I heard some mixed reviews on their cigars before that, but was pleasantly surprised. They then came out with the more recent version.. the “Mi Amor”. This blend was right up my alley. A full bodied/ full flavored smoke that always delivers. Now they have taken it to another level with the “Mi Amor Reserva”.

This cigar has a great dark wrapper. The Band is top notch and very impressive. I loved the box pressed shape and it was a great smoke right from the first puff. It is definitely a strong smoke and has a lot of flavor throughout. You can see the nice solid ash and the slow burn.

I thoroughly enjoyed this smoke. It also helped to be able to sit outback of one of my favorite spots in the beautiful fall florida weather. Which means 80 degrees (Not the traditional break that is normal up north, but we’ll take it after 100 degrees all summer). Either way, this cigar was smoked to the nub

In conclusion… JK recommends. This cigar is worth the price (around $10-$11). Get one soon and enjoy!

Upcoming local cigar events…mark your calendars!

If you’ve never taken part in a cigar event then you’re missing out! This is a great way to increase your cigar knowledge by speaking with the specific brand representative..and sometimes the actual cigar maker. This is the reason the cigar industry is unlike any other. There are two great events coming up next week. There will be cigar specials at both. If you’re looking for a great spot to smoke… then stop at “Ol’ Times Cigars”

There are very few places that offer an extensive variety of cigars, a comfortable place to smoke with some good conversation, and EXTREMELY competitive prices. This is why OL’ Time Cigars is one of the best places to go in central florida.oltimes cigarsI have a few places that I frequently smoke and shop. Each location offers a different atmosphere and therefore I enjoy going to each for different reasons. I will do spotlights on each of my other favorites very soon. Ol’Times is a very friendly place and will make any level smoker feel welcome….from the novice to the aficionado.  The owners.. Al, Jayne and their kids(Jonathan and Justine) are knowledgeable and very helpful.  They make everyone that walks in feel very comfortable and you find yourself excited to browse the large inventory. The entire shop is humidified  so they can display cigars out in the open.

Every corner of the two main rooms has shelves loaded with new and classic brands. Like I said earlier, the prices are very hard to beat. They are also one of the only places I like to buy the Arturo FuenteOpus X brand.  They are priced well and usually in stock. Ol’Times also has a great inventory of cigar accessories as well.. from cutters& lighters to humidors & cigar decor.

Picture from one of their events… they have them regularly. Check back to get dates.

In conclusion… I would definitely stop by Ol’Times if you’re in the area and looking for a great place to buy cigars in bulk or individually. After one visit you’ll be a hooked!

The “Links” were made for smoking…

There are very few places that are as cigar friendly as a golf course. The sport is almost set-up for a two cigar day… one on the font and one on the back.

Historical Dubsdread Golf Course in Orlando, FL

I have always been an extremely average golfer. I introduced cigars to my game and they have served as a distraction from my bad shots and something to enhance the day. I usually try to stick with a good smoke but nothing rare or too expensive. I either bring one big cigar or two short ones. It’s always smart to bring extra in case you get stuck behind a slow group and need a stress reliever. Today I brought a couple of the Family Reserve Robustos by Cordoba and Morales. They were the perfect smoke to start out with. Great taste and a nice slow even burn. They have a great taste from the first puff and are not too strong for the occasional smoker. I bring the same small humidor on the course as I do when tailgating.  I would recommend throwing a “humidpack” into your portable humidor to make sure that the cigars stay while your outside. Golf and cigar

In Conclusion… JK says to bring extra cigars when you golf. They will only enhance your game!
