A smooth smoke from Perdomo Cigars!

The Perdomo name has consistently demanded respect in the cigar world. I used to smoke them often in my early cigar smoking days, but for whatever reason I haven’t had one in years. I  was given the new Perdomo 20th Anniversary by a good friend (and SmokeThoughts follower) Greg. perdomo 20th anniversary

The size I tried was the Gordo..a big 6×60 stick. I decided to take the cigar with me on a beautiful golf day where I knew I’d have plenty of time to enjoy the entire cigar. The cigar has a beautiful sun grown wrapper that remind me of many cuban cigars I’ve had in the past. It has a slight box press which I tend to prefer in most of my cigars as well. From the first puff I really enjoyed the flavor and balance of this smoke. perdomo cigar

The construction was very nice and the draw was very easy. This smoke is a nicaraguan puro (Only nicaraguan tabacco used) but it is much smoother than a lot of the other popular brands from the country.  I enjoyed the entire cigar from start to finish.

In conclusion…JK recommends. This is a great smoke for fans of big ring gauges and those looking for a tasty smooth smoke to try. Priced around $9-$10 at most retailers.

San Cristobal…one of my all time favorites!

There are few brands that I always have in my humidor and consistently purchase when stocking up. The San Cristobal is high on that list.

The San Cristobal gets points with me in several areas. 1) It’s priced reasonably (Prices range from $8-$12) 2) It’s a strong blend of nicaraguan tobaccos 3) It’s available at most shops 4) It’s super consistent every time I light one up. I’ve smoked several over the years and am never disappointed.san cristobal cigar review

I got a chance to burn one of my favorite sizes the other night, the Fabuloso (6.125 x 52). Two of my great friends joined me and enjoyed a San Cristobal,  as well. One was in the mood for something a little lighter so he lit up the San Cristobal Elegancia, which is still a great smoke with tons of flavor (Click here to read more about the Elegancia). san cristobal cigar

You can see that this cigar burns slow and even. It has a great draw and a steady amount of strong flavors throughout. I enjoy ever inch of this smoke.

In Conclusion… JK highly recommends this smoke! Put it on your list to purchase a few next time you get into your local retailer.

La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor… Highly rated for a reason.

I just recently tried the newer version of this cigar…the La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Reserva (Click here to see more). I really enjoyed the new blend so much.. that I wanted to go back and compare it to the original/older blend.

The Mi Amor has consistently received stellar ratings from the most respected cigar publications (Check my Top Ten page here). Cigar Aficionado ranked the La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Belicoso as the #2 cigar in their 2011 rankings. I have been a big fan of the smoke since the first one I lit. It has the same charateristics of many of my favorite cigars.mi amor cigar

The Cigar has a dark maduro wrapper and a beautiful band. There is a very classic look to this cigar, but also an elegance. The size that I prefer most is the Belicoso, which is box pressed and very well constructed. Within the first few puffs you can already taste the nicaraguan tobacco that is packed inside.la aroma mi amor

I really enjoy this smoke after the first inch. It has a consistent strength and burns perfectly. There is some great spiciness to the smoke without being overwhelming. I love when you can enjoy a cigar to the end. I hate when you have to put it out too early, but some smokes get hot and/or bitter. This is one that you will get your money’s worth out of!

In conclusion….JK highly recommends this smoke. It has a very reasonable price (around $8-$9) that also makes it appealing to the medium-full bodied cigar smoker.
